Join me for this 2 hour educational CPD workshop where we shall take a deep dive into the following topics:
– What is pain?
– Understanding the different types of pain
– Understanding tissue damage and the healing process
– Pain science: understanding biological pain mechanisms and how psychosocial factors can influence pain
– The pathways in and out of chronic pain
– A review of recent research
– Ideas for yoga teachers and practitioners
– Discussion and practice
Prior to the workshop you will receive a PDF handout which will include references and resources for you to further your own study and education after the workshop.
The format of the workshop will be both lecture form and practical. So you will need space to practice as well as a note pad or electronic device for note taking. There will also be opportunity for discussion, to ask questions and to share experiences.
This workshop is suitable for yoga teachers and practitioners. Whether you have experience of chronic pain or would like to learn how to support your students better who are in pain.
I am a yoga teacher, yoga therapist and sports massage therapist with over 6 years experience working in this field. I am also someone who lives with arthritis. Through my education and personal experience living with chronic pain I am able to deliver both an objective and subjective insight into this fascinating, and sometimes complicated, subject matter. I am passionate about sharing my life’s work with others, in the hope that this information will change lives, just as it’s changed my own.
